On-Going Support For…

Field Trip Scholarship Program: covering the costs of bringing students from schools with limited resources for farm visits.
Communities served include:

Niles, Chicago, Evanston, Skokie, 
Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, 
Palatine, Wadsworth, Waukegan,
and Woodridge.

Farm Apprentice Program: introduces high school or college-aged students to small scale production agriculture through hands-on experiences in the fields and with the livestock at Wagner Farm. FWF covers the costs of two 9-week paid internships.

Partnerships

From Farm to Food Pantry: Partnering with Wagner Farm's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, FWF pledged funding to provide locally grown produce to the community. Delivered each week to the Northfield Township Food Pantry by Farm staff, the baskets are loaded with fresh fruits and vegetables grown and harvested at Historic Wagner Farm.

Completed Projects
  • Provided the majority of construction costs for the award-winning Historic Wagner Farm Heritage Center

  • Provided funding for the children’s interactive Silo Exhibit in the Heritage Center

  • Provided the majority of construction costs for the award-winning Historic Wagner Farm Heritage Center

  • Purchase of the Historic Wagner Farm Outreach Trailer which allows farm staff to take animals and equipment “on the road” to schools and organizations, therefore providing access to those who may not otherwise be able to participate in the farm programs

  • Contributed funds for the restoration of the Wagner family farmhouse

  • Funding of the farmhouse landscaping addition, fire suppression and alarm systems

  • Contributed funds for the building of the 4-H animal shelter

  • Supplemented the purchase price of the draft horse team, including their leather harnesses, who are used for hayrides and equine programs

  • Funding for the front yard irrigation system

  • Matching funds for LINK Food Assistance Program at the Glenview Farmer's Market

  • Funding for a 5 year strategic plan for Wagner Farm

  • Provided significant funding for the outdoor children’s interactive "Farm Adventure" playscape exhibit

  • Supported the community through a $2,000 donation to the Northfield Township Food Pantry during the covid-19 crisis

  • Purchase of a 1989 Case International 265 Offset Tractor which is uniquely suited to small vegetable farming, ultimately aiding to the 2020 "Feed Glenview" program
